How to Master the OmniBar — 5 Power Moves

The OmniBar is the single keystroke that ties the entire ChainStreet terminal together. Here’s how pros use it.

The OmniBar is the single most under-used feature of ChainStreet. It’s the reason the whole terminal is keyboard-first.

This post: five things power users do in the OmniBar that most people don’t know are possible.

1. Jump to any symbol in under a second

Press ⌘ K (or Ctrl K on Windows/Linux) anywhere in the terminal. Start typing a ticker or a company name — btc, nvidia, xauusd, eurusd. The bar fuzzy-matches across every asset class we cover.

Enter opens the chart. Shift+Enter stages a trade idea. Cmd+Enter opens the Market Brief for that symbol.

2. Natural-language queries

The OmniBar isn’t just search — it’s a router. Try these:

  • recap — jumps straight to the AI daily market recap.
  • gainers — top movers across your watchlist.
  • fear greed — opens the sentiment dashboard.
  • my ideas — your personal community posts.

Anything that looks like a command gets routed to the right page.

3. Multi-symbol comparison

Type two or more symbols separated by spaces — e.g., btc eth sol — and hit Enter. We’ll open a side-by-side performance panel with normalized returns. This is the fastest way to decide which coin or stock to take a position in, not just whether to.

4. Deep-linking into news

Type news <topic> — e.g., news cpi, news earnings, news fomc. We pre-filter the global news feed to that topic. Add a ticker to get asset-specific news: news aapl.

5. Recent history and pinning

The OmniBar remembers your last ~20 queries. Use the up-arrow to cycle through them — great for revisiting a symbol you were researching yesterday.

Pin a symbol or query to the top of your results by pressing P when it’s highlighted.

TL;DR

If you only remember one shortcut across the entire terminal, make it ⌘ K. It’s the fastest path to every piece of data we serve.
Pro tip: we’re shipping command palette actions that let you create alerts and post trade ideas without ever leaving the OmniBar. Stay tuned.
